About Wolf

Our company is located in the Hunter Valley, NSW in a little rural town called Dungog, which is about 100Ks north-west of Newcastle.
Dungog is well worth a visit and a popular place to stay when visiting the world heritage Barrington Tops National Park or one of the many state forrest surrounding them with excellent camping facilities.

Why I run BudgetHandles.com.au:

In recent years I have been an owner / builder and have renovated several houses as investment projects. Before doing this I replaced our deck on our home in Sydney (4m up from the ground) and built an external office / granny flat next to the existing house, re-landscaped the backyard by adding two terraces and converting one of them into a paved entertainment area. And of course I did some door hardware installation such as replacing all locks when we bought our new home with keyed alike locks and all those painting and repair jobs we all love.
Through this experience, I understand the importance of the right combination of price, quality and style.

About us and my current project:

In 2000 we purchased 25 acres of Bushland in the Dungog Shire and started building ourselves a weekend from scratch. We worked hard on our project until it was “livable” as a weekender in 2002 and since then have been plugging away and now are close to having it completed. In 2006 we moved to Dungog and live in a locality called Hilldale 20Ks south of Dungog itself.

My latest project is a substantial addition to our weekender we have been building over the last, well nearly 10 years now. The aim is to turn it into our new home. And since I’m married to a girl that thinks big is better and even bigger is best the extension is turning out to be bigger then the existing house. The main challenge for this project is to make the extension match the existing house and fit into the property so it looks like it belongs there. Here are a couple of pictures of our little house at is stands at the moment. You can click on either of the pics to see a larger version of it:

As part of this project we substanially upgraded all door hardware in our little home (kitchen handles, door handles etc.) and I’m now starting to work on our front door. Aim is to install a long architectural handle together with a roller mortice lock, replace the brass hinges, remove the brass rim lock (bog hole) and paint the door blue instead of having the timber finish we have now. Here are some pics of what the door looks like at present. I will post pics of the complete transformation once its done. Don’t hold your breath however since I have a lot of fenching todo before I can start on this one in ernst.

Following is a somewhat chronological sequence of my background:
I am from a German background, hence the name of of the first online store we opened in early 2006, BlueWolf.net.au. Blue Wolf now focusses more on our commercial customers and on services we provide in to customers located in the Hunter Valley and closer to home in the Dungog Shire.
Many renovators and owner builders have been telling us that what they are looking for is a no-nonsense online store where they can buy door and cabinet hardware at trade prices. And here is the answer: BudgetHandles.com.au. It provides the core range of contemporary door and cabinet hardware that has been most popular with our renovators and owner builders over the last two years at trade prices.

However back to my background, I started my working life in the retail sector in Germany and after completing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (IT), I immigrated to Australia where I managed in the manufacturing industry for a number of years. I then spent a few years in the IT sector running small companies in IT support and web hosting. During this time I was also free lancing in web development and teaching Network Engineering and Internet Infrastructure at TAFE.
